Proven Commitment to Renewable Energy

By HR Tech Outlook | Thursday, January 31, 2019

Access to energy is an important factor in today’s society in both developed and developing countries. Renewable sources of energy have an important potential to contribute to sustainable economic, social, and environmental conditions. They improve access to energy for the majority of the population, reduce local, and global emissions of pollutants and create local socio-economic development opportunities.

AVANGRID is a leading, sustainable energy company with an asset and operations of approximately $32 billion in 24 U.S. states. AVANGRID has two main business lines said to be the Avangrid Networks and the Avangrid Renewables.

Avangrid Networks owns eight electric and natural gas utilities in New York and New England, serving 3.2 million customers. Avangrid Renewables owns and operates 7.1 gigawatts of electricity, mainly through wind power, with a presence in 22 states throughout the U.S.

The company creates sustainable value for stakeholders by providing its customers with reliable service through the use of environmentally friendly energy sources and innovation. This helps in decreasing the carbon footprint of the company and promoting the well-being of the communities. AVANGRID has around 6,500 employees.

Recently, Peter Church was hired as the Chief Human Resources Officer of Avangrid Inc. utility based in Orange.

Church will be responsible for developing and implementing human resources strategies to support the overall business plan of the company and the organization’s strategic direction. He previously worked for UnitedHealthcare as chief talent officer. He was there to create, lead, and drive talent strategies to ensure the continued and successful attraction, development, and engagement of a world-class workforce. Church has 20 years of experience in human resources in companies such as Hartford, Aetna, and United Technologies. He was awarded a Bachelor and Master’s degree from Hartford University with a major in psychology. Also, he is a member of the National Council of Leaders with RAINN, the largest anti-sexual violence organization in the country.

The company expects that Church will further strengthen the company brand and culture as with a strong balance of practical HR process experience and a broad picture of workplace culture and employer brand.
