FREMONT, CA: The word "employee benefits" is often used, but it's generally with a narrow, conventional meaning in mind. The conventional definition applies to legally required benefits plus a few that employers voluntarily incorporate. New workforce demands and aspirations are emerging as a result of a new generation of jobs, who will soon make up the majority of the workforce, and a dynamic, global labor market. Employers are responding with a menu of voluntary employee benefits fuelled by demographic changes and technological advances that are transforming the workplace.
The days of handing out an annual ham and a handshake to workers are long gone. Rewards, like appreciation, should have meaning. According to a study conducted by benefits consulting firm Alight, workers who believe their rewards meet their needs are seven times more likely to be engaged at work than those who do not.
Employees should select their reward in the most successful reward scheme. Employees, for example, will gain points for excellent performance and then redeem those points for a reward of their choice. Gift cards, travel savings, charitable donations, the latest tech gadget, and fashionable fashion apparel are all possible incentives. Some companies build their own incentive scheme, which could include items like a day off to volunteer or goes to a child's out-of-town sporting event.
According to a report, more businesses are providing wellness services. From 2017 to 2018, 44 percent of businesses increased their wellness benefits, and 75 percent of employers included a general wellness program, wellness services, and/or wellness information. Management of chronic health conditions, exercise issues, health screening services, yoga courses for stress reduction, and nutrition seminars or safe food options in office cafeterias and vending machines are all features of wellness programs. Small groups of people walking every day during lunch hour are almost definitely part of a fitness initiative.
